Basil E. Nichols
Basil Edward Nichols, 72, of 726 Rahlway St., Martinsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born July 5, 1927, in Franklin County, he was a son of the late Edward Oscar Nichols and Margie Slone Nichols.
He retired as rough room foreman at American Furniture Co., where he had worked for 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Evie Pauline Nichols of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Billy (Renee) Turner of Martinsville and Mrs. Thomas (Lorrmine) Halfaker of Greenfield, Ind.; two brothers, Marvin Nichols of Martinsville and Carlton Nichols of High Point, N.C.; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Moore, and a brother, Arvelle Nichols.
The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Community Funeral Services in Ridgeway. The Rev. Harold Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at Community Funeral Services from 6 to 7 p.m. today, and other times at the home at 726 Rahlway St., Martinsville.
