Geneva May Mitchell Overby of Winnona, Missouri, age 69, died in Eminence, Shannon, Missouri on October 2, 2006 from a myocardial infarction in which she died immediately at her residence at 12:15 pm. She was born on April 1, 1937 in Savannah, Andrew County, Missouri to Oakley Elmer "Stubb' Mitchell and Virginia May Abels. She had 3 brothers: Oakley Thomas Mitchell, Wayne Mitchell, and James Irvin Mitchell (1943-1944) and 2 half sisters (Mary Montez "Tessie" Mitchell Scott and Emma Mitchell Orr) when her father remarried to a Joyce Columbine Gann. She also had a half sister (Janice Lea Miller) when her mother remarried to Joseph Theodore Miller, Jr. It is this Joe Jr. that helped raise Geneva.

According to Geneva's nephew, James Mitchell, her nickname was "George." Her brother Wayne started calling her George to tease her, and she called him Mary. George ended up sticking, and she was known as George for the rest of her life. They were working at Virginia's restaurant in Savannah, Missouri when he started calling her George. Wayne is James' father and has told him the story many times.

She married Alfred Marion Sutton Sr (1934-2011) on July 26, 1952 in Newton, Arkansas. They had four children: Alfred Marion Sutton Jr. (1953-2009), Deborah Sutton Fuller (1954-2021), Jeraldean Lee "Jerri" Sutton Winter(1955-2023), and David Leroy Sutton (1957-1998).

She then married Henry Delano "Buddy" Overby on August 1, 1961 in Illinois. To this union they had Henry Michael Overby, Heather Marie Overby, and Scott Alan Overby.

Memorial services were arranged by Duncan Funeral Home, and then she was cremated October 7, 2006 at the South Central Missouri Crematory in West Plains, Missouri. Ashes were given to family.
