He was the son of Robert C. and Barbara F. (Franconi) Smith of Rochester.
Brian was born in Providence, RI, and had lived in Middleboro and Rochester for most of his life.
He was a member of St. John Neumann Church.
Brian was a graduate of Old Rochester Regional High School, class of 1998, and was a member of that school's Math Club and Sci-Fi Club. He was presently attending UMASS-Dartmouth, College of Engineering, Computer Information Science Division, and would have graduated from the school in May. He was employed part-time as a computer programmer.
He enjoyed skiing, swimming, movie making and dirtbiking.
Survivors include his parents; his aunt, Margaret Ochs of Milton; and 2 cousins, Jessica Ochs and Amanda Ochs, both of Milton.
He was the brother of the late Michael F. Smith.
