Born to Audrie and Donald Nicholson. He was raised by his Grandmother, Bessie Barnaman. He moved to Portland in 1951. Don entered the Army in 1952 and served two years in the Corp of Engineers.

Don leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Patty. Four children, six stepchildren, eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

Don passed away from Lewy Body Dementia at the age of 80.
