ORA VIOLET COLE ACORD
Ora Violet Acord, 93, of Eccles, died peacefully Wednesday, June 25, 2008, in Lucy Bowers Hospice House following a short illness.
Born on May 15, 1915, in Glen Daniel, she was the daughter of the late Mike Robert and Cittie Amber McMillion Cole. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lacy Acord on July 4, 1968; a sister, Grace Cole Brunty; and by three brothers: Lundy Lane Cole, Troy Joe "Trick" Cole and Grady Oather Cole.
Mrs. Acord spent her childhood in Glen Daniel and Fairdale and has resided in Eccles since 1945. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a devoted homemaker who loved her flowers, garden and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters: Carol Sue Wright and husband Dale of Beckley and Marie Barker and husband John of Glen Daniel; four sons: Denver Dale Acord and wife Doris of Glen White, Dallas Paul Acord and wife Connie of Augusta, Ga., Charles "Bucky" Acord and wife Rebecca of Eccles and Carl "Buddy" Acord and wife Lela of Eccles; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and by two sisters: Tina Mae Sanger and Ruth Cozart, both of Beckley; and a brother, John Cole of Fairdale.
Burial will be in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
