Alvin J. Allen, 42, of 4171 Three Mile Rd., Traverse City, died Tuesday at Munson Medical Center after a short illness.
The son of John and Alta Allen, he was born at Courtland, Ontario, Canada on Oct. 20, 1933, and had been a Traverse City resident since 1946. He married the former Myrtle Stites in Traverse City on June 15, 1957.
He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Traverse City, and was an avid snowmobiler and camper.
Besides his wife, Myrtle, he is survived by three sons, Charles L., Calvin J. and Paul D., all of Traverse City; a daughter, Carol L. at home; two brothers, Howard D. and Ronald D. both of Traverse City; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Allen of Traverse City; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Ulaine) Peplinski of Flint and Mrs. Frank (Reta) Edgerton of Flint; and many nieces, nephews and uncles.
The funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Martinson-Covell Funeral Home with the Reverends Gordon G. Sanders of Bethany Baptist and Delbert Nixon of Bible Baptist officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
