Alice "Sadie" Alexander, a retired cook for Cohn High School in Port Allen and a resident of Port Allen, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge. She was 87 and a native of Port Allen.

Visiting at New Mount Olive Baptist Church, Port Allen, until religious service, conducted by Michael Byrd, pastor. Interment in Lady of Knight Cemetery, Port Allen. Hall Davis & Son Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by four daughters, Terrie Ann Robertson, Sharron Robertson, Brenda Matthews and Linda Antoine; three sons-in-law; six sons, Eddie and Isaiah Louis Taylor and John Jr., Darrow, Benjamin and Kailum Alexander; three daughters-in-law; three brothers, Henry Spooner, the Rev. Leo Nelson and Hezekiah Nelson; 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ed Taylor and John Alexander Sr.; parents, Buddy Spooner and Sylvia Spooner Nelson; son, Shelby Lee Alexander; two grandchildren, three sisters and four brothers.

She served on the Usher Board at Mount Olive Baptist Church for more than 40 years.
