Dorothy A. (Garno) Kapke of Brant, Michigan, passed away at Tendercare, Mt. Pleasant, on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the age of 82 years.

Dorothy A. Garno was born April 20, 1931 in Saginaw to the late Calvin and Bertha (Momier) Garno. She graduated from cosmetology school in 1948 and lived in this area for most of her life. Dorothy had many interests including embroidery, quilting, gardening, reading and bingo. She was also an avid fan of John Wayne and Elvis Presley. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a crucial part of her life and were very important to her.

Dorothy is survived by: three children, Rosemarie Kellogg of Mt. Pleasant, Walter (Suzanne) Kapke of Bay City, and Shirley "Kitty" (Howard) Williams of Shepherd; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Robert) Call and Marion (James) Trier; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Donald Garno, Dwayne Garno, and Elenora Trahan.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 419 S. Merrill, Merrill, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Duane Wachowiak will officiate with burial in St. Theresa Cemetery in Marion Springs. Friends may visit at the Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy may consider Heartland Hospice, 1625 E. Broomfield, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858.
