My mother was born in Iceland, one of 9 children, on a farm in the southern part of the country. At a young age she went to the capital, Reykjavík, to work, and there she met my father. They married in 1920, and some years later they moved to Denmark with their two first-born daughters, living in Copenhagen the rest of their days.
