Mildred L. Mayfield Bennett, 94, formerly of Atwood, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Sunday (July 7, 2013) at Symphony of Decatur, Decatur.
She was born on June 8, 1919 in Moultrie County, the daughter of John R. and Nellie Ballard Davis. She married George Mayfield on Oct. 3, 1935. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1977. To this union two children were born, Gary Mayfield, who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1986, and Karen (Fred) Wicker of Decatur.
She later married William Bennett. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Wayne, Cleo, John and Donald and three sisters, Gladys Malloy, Ruby Morgan and Opal Fair.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Dawna Ulbricht, Michelle (Jimmy) Steven, LeeAnn (Jim) McCue and Ronnie Mayfield; five great-grandchildren, Vernita Spry and fiance Randy Henson, Katy (DJ) Hart, Sara Foster and Jenn and Chris McCue; seven great-great-grandchildren, Kaci Spry, Stepheni Spry, Calob Foster, Elizabeth Foster, Aliva Foster, Jake Hart and Lillian Hart and four step-grandchildren, Tammy (George) Burns, Candy (Mike) Loyd, Fritz (Toni) Wicker and Amy (Neil) Kane.
