Ethel M. (Zeigler) Calimer, 97, of Waynesboro, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 4, 1904 in Edgemont, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Rafus and Amanda (Patterson) Zeigler. She and her husband, Daniel Calimer, were married Nov. 12, 1921, in Hagerstown. Mr. Calimer died June 19, 1984. Mrs. Calimer first worked as a laundress for the former Conservation Civilian Corps (CCC) camps. She later worked for Knouse Foods and did domestic work in the area along with her daughter. She was a member of the National AARP. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.Mrs. Calimer is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Walters of Hagerstown, Betty J. Guessford of Waynesboro, and Peggy A. Stoops of Rye, Texas; four sons, Calvin C., Carl D. and Gary L. Calimer, all of Waynesboro, and Alfred L. Calimer of Kissimmee, FL; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 23 step-great-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-great-grandchildren.She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jesse F. Calimer Sr. in 1994; two grandsons, Jesse F. Calimer Jr. and Donald P. Stoops; one great-grandson, Shane R. Myers; two sisters, Agnes Shirk and Annie Carrey; and three brothers, George, John and Percy Zeigler.
