He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Griffith Akers; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristie and Mitch Jearls, Dublin; his daughters, Lee-Ellen Akers and Ashlyn Gray Akers, of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Lawrence and Cora Akers, Christiansburg; his parents-in-law, P.L. and Jackie Griffith, also of Christiansburg; a brother-in-law and his wife, Blake and Karen Griffith; and a dear niece and nephew.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday from the Christiansburg Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends on Thursday, 4 May 1995, from 2 to 9 p.m. at 290 Patricia Lane. Arrangements are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
