Ellis Ashdown, 48, died Sunday evening in the Utah Valley Hospital of a stroke. He was born Jan. 11,1919, in Cedar City, the son of Frank and Sarah Pendleton Ashdown. He married Mary Hill on Oct. 5,1942,in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on June 25, 1943. He had worked in the trucking business and most recently as a custodian for the LDS Church. He was a High priest and a member of the Orem 12th Ward. He had lived in Orem since 1948. Survivors include his widow of Orem; two sons and five daughters, Robert Ellis Ashdown, Provo; Ilene Ashdown, on an LDS mission in Fort Wayne, Ind.; Nola Kay, Shirley Rae, Joyce, Kenny.Dean, Kay Lee, all of Orem; two brothers and two sisters, Melborne Ashdown and Mrs. Mary Urie, both of Cedar City; Frank Ashdown, Chico, Calif.; Mrs. George (Phyllis) Bridges, Antimony, Utah. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., in the Orem 12th Ward Chapel, 1400 S. 8th E,, in Orem, with Bishop Robins officiating. Friends may call at the Olpin-Sundberg Mortuary Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the chapel Wednesday prior to services. Interment in the Orem City Cemetery.
