Born in Munich, Germany, he was a son of the late Simon Hackl and the late Maria Hackl. He was retired from Exide Battery, where he was chief architect. Mr. Hackl was an avid golfer, a member of Swan Lake Presbyterian Church and the Rotary Club of Philadelphia.
Survivors besides his wife include one daughter, Doris Hackl of Willow Grove, Pa.; two grandchildren, Kate Reichert and John Reichert; two stepchildren, Joette Brown Santora of Flat Rock, N.C., and James Lawrence Brown of Awendaw; and two step-grandchildren, Brenton L. Coburn and Katherine E. Santora.
Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Thomas officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home.
