Tamsey Elizabeth McCoy was the daughter of William and Sarah James McCoy, and granddaughter of John and Margaret Jackson McCoy, and Samuel and Pernina Dean James. She never married, but had a son William Henry "Red Tom." In the 1920 census she is listed as living with her son William Thomas "Red Tom" and his wife Pitey Lowe McCoy. She is listed as age 89, in the 1930 census as living in Martin County with her daughter-in-law Pitey Lowe McCoy in the home of Piety's daughter Delphia and her husband William Henry "Bill Hen" Preece. She is not listed in the 1940 census.
