Onalaska, Wis. - Clara O. (Bjorge) King, 85, of Onalaska died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at the Onalaska Care Center, Onalaska.

Clara was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Rushford, Minn., to Gustav and Bertha (Gaustad) Johnson. On Nov. 23, 1940, she married Kenneth Bjorge in Rushford, and he precedes her in death. They raised turkeys in the Rushford area before moving to La Crosse. Clara was employed at Auto Lite in La Crosse. She was a cook at Ardies Restaurant and various other restaurants including the City Cafe in Whitehall, Wis. Clara married James King in 1990 and he preceded her in death in 1999.

Clara is survived by her children, Kermit (Linda) Bjorge of San Antonio, Texas, Karen (Ernest) Smith of La Crosse, James (Joyce) Bjorge of Albuquerque, N.M., and they also took in a special daughter, Joyce (Dan) Olloff of La Crosse; 19 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Clara was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Olaf Johnson, who died at Pearl Harbor; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Beulah (Carl) Olson, and Alma (Francis) Drake.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Oak Grove Chapel, 1407 La Crosse St., La Crosse. Pastor David J. Baldukas from Olivet Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery, Sheldon Township, Houston County, Minn. Friends may call at Oak Grove Chapel from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Woodruff-Jandt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
