Marriage--
At age 43. on 4 Sep 1919, in Hale Center, Texas, at the home of her older sister (Elizabeth May "Bessie" Jennings Wilson), "Addie" married John Mathew Waln [age 43, widower, of deceased wife Clara Jane Johnson Waln (1881-1917)]. "Addie" never had any children, but helped nurture and raise the childen of her new husband.

In 1910, "Addie" was living with her mother (Elizabeth Jane Findley Jennings) in McPherson County, Kansas; and working as a pubic school teacher and was unmarried. "Addie" had completed 3 years of college education.

SPECIAL NOTE: Addie's older sister (Mary Grace Jennings Scott) also worked as a school teacher for a time and then married at age 17 to school teacher James Alfred Scott. Later James Alfred Scott turned his hand to working in a store and merchandising and later as a farmer after getting land from the Oklahoma Land "Run". [James Alfred Scott and wife Mary Grace Jennings Scott are my 1st great grandparents. (dht)]


In 1920, "Addie" lived with "her newly wed spouse" John Mathew Waln in Canton, McPherson, Kansas, where John was working as a farmer. Some of John's children that resided in the household (Addie's step chidren) were:

Leonard Waln age 11
Marietta Waln age 9
Irene Waln age8

In 1925, "Addie" resided in Canton, McPherson, Kansas, with her spouse John Waln (age 49 and farming) and some of his children by his 1st wife (Leonard Waln age 16), (Marietta Waln age 14), and (Irene Waln age 13).

In 1930, "Addie" resided in Canton, McPherson, Kansas, with her spouse John (age 54 and still farming) and his daughter (Irene Waln age 18 unmarried). Also living with them in the household was Addie's father (Nathaniel Brownfield Jennings age 85 and widowed).

In 1940, "Addie" resided in Canton, McPherson, Kansas, with her spouse John (age 64, still farming and working 48 hours per week, 52 weeks out of the year, and earning income at it during the WW II). Also, residing in the household was Frances Calham (age 13, born about 1927 in Iowa, and listed as a "foster son").

Burial--
"Addie" predeceased her spouse John Mathew Waln. John arranged for her funeral and she was buried in the same cemetery as his 1st wife. John Mathew Waln passed away in 1955 and was laid to rest in the Canton Cemetery, in Canton, McPherson, Kansas, with his two helpmates and wives.
