David was born in Wales and immigrated to America and married Mary Vandeventer in New Jersey in 1753. They would have 12 children together.

He died in Pickaway, Pickaway Co, Ohio in 1814 at the age of 80.
(Possibly he is buried in the same cemetery as his son Caleb and his son David Evans Jr)
