Died peacefully in her 95th year at St. Patrick's Home, Ottawa on Monday, June 24, 2013. Born in Pontiac, PQ on October 12, 1918. Beloved daughter of the late Peter and Mary (nee Healey) Gauvreau; sister of the late Leo J. Gauvreau (the late Sarah) and Evelyn R. L'Abbe (the late Charlie). Cherished wife of the late Evan O. Macaulay. Dear mother of Mary Louise Arscott (John), the late Susan Belanger (the late John), Elizabeth Macaulay, Jean Kot (Bill), Linda Ervin (Randy), and Tom Macaulay (Carol). Fondly remembered by grandchildren Kim Ridgely (Rob), Christine Hannaford (Scott), Genevieve Jones (David), Rob Arscott (Camille), Christopher Payette (Rae), Leslie Payette, the late Alice Ervin, Scott Ervin, and Jennifer Amman-Macaulay (Hans-Ruedi). Loved by great-grandchildren Deanna and Brian Ridgely, Ryan, Adam and Cara Hannaford, Alexander Jones, Keira and Juliette Arscott, Evan and Willow Payette, Grace and Mika Tootiak, and Sean and Leoni Amman-Macaulay. Loving aunt to Peter L'Abbe (Mary). Mom was a dedicated employee of the Department of National Defence for many years, including service during World War II. She loved family gatherings, playing euchre, watching movies, eating Laura Secord chocolates ("Lauras" as she called them) and cream puffs. Many thanks to Dr. Uppal and the staff of St. Patrick's Home, including the Pastoral Care Team who took such good care of Mom for so many years and especially in her final days. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick's Home. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 29, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of St. Patrick's Home (2865 Riverside Drive), followed by reception in the library.
