John William Bellinger was born either in Kentucky or Indiana (sources differ) on October 15, 1854, and died August 10, 1936. He came to Nebraska City with his parents in 1857. Five years later they homesteaded near Greenwood, Nebraska, where he made his home ever since.

He was united in marriage to Emma H. Landon, November 15, 1880. To this union three children were born. The mother and two sons have preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his death the daughter, Mrs. William Kelly; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Harry Bellinger and Mrs. Clifford Bellinger of Omaha; four granddaughters, four grandsons, and three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Nola Landon of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Mary Atkinson of Chanute, Kansas; and one brother, Charles Bellinger.
