Samuel was the son of Benjamin Lodge and Rebecca Allen, and the brother of Joseph Lodge, with whom he shared the Lodge mansion. Genealogist George M. Beckett gives the dates above as Samuel's probable birth and death dates. (The years as shown on his grave marker.)

He married Abigail Horner on 4 Feb. 1790. He was a marine master/river and coastal trader, and farmer; he was also a member of the Methodist Church. He died of smallpox near Thorofare, Gloucester Co., NJ, aged 40 years, leaving behind his wife and 5 minor children.

Gravesite Details

His grave was relocated from the Lodge Family Burial Ground in Billingsport to the Lodge Family Plot in Eglington Cemetery. Thanks to David Devault for confirming this.
