David Ray Friend, 52, was born April 20, 1961, in Ashland, Kansas. He died June 17, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a long battle with cancer. He was received into the Catholic Parrish of St John the Baptist in Edmond, Oklahoma. He is proceeded in death by his father Cecil Friend of Freedom, Oklahoma. He is survived by is mother Lorena Friend Hoofer and her husband Ralph Hoofer of Coldwater, Kansas. Also surviving his are his sister Rita Case and her husband Larry of Oklahoma City, his sister Dixie Friend and Ronald Gay, his nephew Hagen Friend, and his niece Garland Gay, all of Houston. In addition he is survived by his mentor and brother-figure, Charlie Mieser. Also important to him were all his friend from his church and his friends from his group, Live and Let Live. David attended 1st grade at Centerview, during the last year school was held there. He graduated in 1979 from Freedom High School. He was an Oklahoma State University graduate and did creative work as a prop master.
