Funeral Services will be at 2pm Sunday, June 23 2013 at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Polley Cemetery, Excelsior Springs.
Hiram was born on December 1 1929 in Alta Vista KS. the son of Lewis and Lucy (Thoes) Jones. On January 31 1953, he married his wife of 58 years, Anna (Samborski) Jones. Anna preceded him in death on April 8 2011.
He was a lifelong Member of The Church Of Christ.
Hiram worked as an escavator and also had been involved with many other things such as he owned and operated Midway Meat Prossing Plant, he subdivided his land in Excelsior Springs and made Eastwood Estates in 1960. He started the Wood Heights Fire Deptartment by buying the first fire truck and parking it in his garage. He was instrumental in getting land donated and then the building donated for Wood Heights City Hall. Hiram was a loving husband, father, and an amazing grandpa. He liked to travel with his children, and in their motorhome, he, Anna and the kids traveled all over the 50 states.
Survivors include five children: Jeanne O'Dell and husband Randall of Excelsior Springs, Hiram Jones and wife Sally of Advance MO, Brett Jones and wife Melissa of Excelsior Springs, Anita Mayfield and husband Kelly of Excelsior Springs, and Scott Jones and wife Anna of Excelsior Springs; 3 brothers: Byron Jones of Kansas City MO, Leland Jones of Richmond, and Joe Jones of Excelsior Springs; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Alzeheimers Association.
