Verna Thornton, age 87, passed away August 7, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born May 29, 1914 in Elsinore, Utah, daughter of Christian Lauritz and Christina Marie Nielsen Gregerson. Married Vegh Groo Christensen; later divorced. Married DeVere Christian Rasmussen; he preceded her in death in 1953.

Married James Lloyd Thornton August 1, 1958 in Salt Lake City. Member of the LDS Church.

Survived by husband, James; children, David (Gwen) Christensen, Salt Lake City; Susan (Joel) Lewis, Napa, California; Carol Dee (Glade) Christensen, West Jordan; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter, Jeri Jackman, 2000; granddaughter, Anne Christensen, 1978.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 12 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
