DAVENPORT - Funeral services for Elaine V. Welch, Davenport, will be 7 p.m. today at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Mrs. Welch died on Monday, April 14, 2003, at Bettendorf Health Care Center. Elaine Virginia Kent was born June 23, 1923, in Milaca, Minn., the daughter of Edward and Georgia (Leathers) Kent. She married Joseph C. Welch on Jan. 6, 1945, in Iowa City. He preceded her in death June 13, 2002. Mrs. Welch was a housewife, a homemaker and mom. Survivors include three daughters, Carol Allen, Davenport, Sharon Wakeland, Charlotte, N.C., and Joyce Bettis, Bettendorf; six sons, Gary Welch, Ron Welch, Don Welch and Randy Welch, all of Davenport, David Welch, Bettendorf, and Roger Welch, Lowden, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Kent; a brother, Kenneth Kent, of California; and a very special and close friend of 49 years, Pat Hildebrand, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Robert and Dennis; two sisters, Ethel and Dorothy; and four brothers, Joe, Cecil, Russel and Jack.
