The son of Benjamin and Susannah Cross.

A 27 year-old Stonecutter from Dracut, MA, Ira Cross enlisted and was mustered into service with the 16th Mass. Infantry on July 12, 1861. Taken prisoner at the battle of Gettysburg, Ira was held in prisons at Richmond. Transferred to Andersonville, he died on March 5, 1864 due to Dysentery.
