She was born in Oak Park, IL to David J. and Frances E. (Gurnea) Serviss. On Aug. 31, 1946, she married Robert W. Benson in Chicago, IL.
She was a member of the Professional Secretary Association and a very active member of St. Mary Episcopal Church in Crystal Lake, serving as the past treasurer of the Alter Guild.
She is survived by her sons, James (Elizabeth) Benson and Bill (Elaine) Benson; her grandchildren, Will (Sarah) Benson, Michael Benson, Colleen (Cliff) Benson-Ortiz, Erin (Erik) Benson-Eblen, Shannon Bass, Robert Bass and Kathleen Bass; her great-grandchildren, Grace Benson and Sean, Lauren and Andrew Ortiz; her nieces, Ann (Darrell) Kinkel, Mary Jeanne (James) Cashin and Laura (Joel) Arce; and her nephew, Thomas (Patricia) Giblin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; and her sister, Helen (Thomas) Giblin.
