George Baranski
August 06, 1927 - May 28, 2013

Born in 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Mary Baranski, George was the eldest of 4 children. Two brothers, Leonard and Edward and Sister Lillian. Leonard and his wife Carol live in Los Angeles and their two sons John and Jaime live in Colorado and California.

George's sister, Lil and nephew John are deceased and brother in-law Paul lives in California.

After graduating from high school George entered the Air Force where his interest in aviation expanded and his career as an air traffic controller started. Aviation was his life's passion and continued to be of great interest to George long after retirement. He even worked part time after retirement teaching future pilots and maintained a respectable collection of books and other information regarding aircraft, airports and flying.

While in the military George spent a brief stint as a controller in Alaska. To this day his time and experiences there have continued to be a regular topic conversation with friends and family. He loved to look at the photos he brought back and talk about his experiences there.

George married Henrietta in 1954. Henri was an Eastern Airlines flight attendant while George was working as an air traffic controller. They met through a mutual acquaintance and have many entertaining stories of their experiences during this period. Once married they initially moved to Cleveland, Ohio to start a family.

George and Henri have two children, Annette and John. Annette lives with her daughter Whitney in Jacksonville, Florida and John with his wife Roxanne and daughter Mahina live in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In the mid 1960's George and Henri moved to Florida and initially settled in Miami, followed by Orlando, Ft Myers and Hollywood. Miami is where Georges love for the ocean, boating and snorkeling developed. George spent most of his early family years snorkeling in the waters of Miami and the Florida Keys. These were great times filled with wonderful family memories. They also embarked on numerous trips to the Caribbean with family and friends.

After his retirement, George and Henri relocated further up the east coast of Florida and decided that Melbourne Beach would be their final retirement destination. They loved being close to the ocean.

George was considered by many who knew him to be the "nicest, sweetest, man known". He was a wonderful husband and father, had a great sense of humor, loved by all, and rarely got angry.

He loved his granddaughters dearly and spent much time with both. Numerous visits each year kept both he and Henri busy in retirement, usually including trips to a favorite destination Disneyworld.

George's interest in the Hawaiian Islands grew when John decided to move there in 1990. As usual he was well read on the Islands, learned to love the islands and visited numerous times.

John and Annette would bring family together regularly for visits throughout George's retirement.

A Memorial Mass is planned for Saturday, June 15th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Melbourne Beach with a Memorial Scattering in the church's scattering garden immediately after the Mass.
