Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rainbow City Church of God for Mr. David S. Atchley, 62, Southside, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005. The Revs. Rick Bradley, T.V. Burroughs and Tony McGowan will officiate. Burial in Rainbow Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. Atchley was a native and resident of Gadsden most of his life. He was a member of Rainbow City Church of God, having grown up in the Alabama City Church of God. He was a member of the 1961 class of Emma Sansom High School. Mr. Atchley was employed by Liberty National after having worked many years in the restaurant business, including at Shoney's. Mr. Atchley was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed, with his great sense of humor and laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Easter Atchley.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Floyd Atchley, Southside; sons, Scot Atchley, Mobile, and Jonathan Atchley, Southside; daughter, Dee (Troy) Theriot, Atlanta; grandchildren, Tiffani Theriot, A.J. Theriot and Lauren Theriot, all of Atlanta; brother, Robert D. (Lura) Atchley, Atlanta; special friend, Tony McGowan; aunt, Vila Mae Duke, Leesburg; uncles, Truman Guthrie, Centre, and Alfred Guthrie, Centre; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Stanley, Richard Acrey, Jerry Knight, Jerry Stewart, Eddie Wilson, Bill Sanders, Leonard Greene and Kevin Cornutt.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
