Nellie grew up in a small southern Alberta spot called Lucky Strike. Her parents ran a General Store there and she helped out and was assistant Post Master. She married Alva Bair in 1943 and they farmed in the 2-15 area on the Bair homestead. She and Alva travelled the world in his quest of hunting the major members of the cat family (Africa, Asia, South America). They entertained cubs, scouts guides, and visitors unannounced from far and wide at what became known as the "Bair Museum" She was active in the church and the Sleepy hollow Community Club. She excelled at photography
