Ralph Everett Dittman, 91, of Bruin, returned peacefully to God and the loving arms of his departed wife Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Ralph was born Aug. 5, 1921, and graduated in 1940 from Salem Vocational High School in Knox. (Ralph was the son of Joseph Henry and Arminta Emanatha Beals Dittma., ls)

He married Margaret (Altmire) Dittman on Feb 7, 1941, and they had two sons.

Ralph and Margaret founded Ralph Dittman Trucking in the 1940s and dedicated their lives to growing it into a thriving business. He had a tireless work ethic, was an avid bowler, and greatly enjoyed taking Margaret dancing. Ralph was a humble man of faith and conviction. He lived his life honorably.

Ralph is survived by two sons, Jack Dittman and his wife, Margretta, of Karns City and David Dittman and his wife, Elaine, of Karns City; and seven grandchildren, Mathew D. Dittman of Chicora, Jennifer R. Grooms and her husband Scott of Harrisville, Scott M. Dittman and wife Lee of Karns City, Dr. Michael J. Dittman and wife Kristie of Butler, Angie R. Fritch and husband Eric of Chicora, Adam R. Dittman of Harrisburg, and Amanda N. Dittman of Karns City.

Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, Gage A. Bowser of Chicora, Benjamin S. Grooms of Harrisville, Hunter Brielle Dittman of Karns City, Kira N. Dittman of Butler, Rebecca G. Grooms of Harrisville, Logan M. Dittman of Chicora, Briana L. Dittman of Butler, Kyle J. Dittman of Butler, Chloe N. Fritch of Chicora, Brock Dittman of Karns City, and Dominic Brackins of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in 2007, and all nine of his brothers and sisters.

Family and friends of Ralph Dittman, who died Friday, June 7, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, 102 S. Argyle St., Petrolia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 409 N. Main Street, Chicora, with the Rev. Joseph P. Pudichery as celebrant.

Interment will immediately follow in Eau Claire Cemetery, Eau Claire.

Arrangements are being handled by Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home of Petrolia.

In honor of Ralph, contributions may be made in his memory to the Mater Dolorosa Altar Society, 409 North Main Street, Chicora, 16025.
