Elizabeth Birmelin, 96, of Mansfield, passed away early Monday morning, December 2, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born April 23, 1917 in Mansfield to the late Katherine (Gross) and Michael Fetter. Elizabeth was an area homemaker her entire life. Spending time in the company of her family, especially her granddaughter, brought Elizabeth much joy.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marlene Birmelin of Mansfield; a granddaughter, Amy Jo (Rick) Vandergriff of Mt. Carmel, TN; two step grandchildren, Kim Mace of Galion and Michael Laug of Mansfield; two step great-grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Vandergriff of Mt. Carmel, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Birmelin; brother, Mike Fetter; and sisters, Catherine Birmelin and Theresa Tschantz.

A funeral service conducted by Rev. Christopher R. Thomas will be held Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial in Mansfield Memorial Park will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice, 335 Glessner Avenue, Mansfield, OH 44903.
