Of Annapolis, MD formerly of Silver Spring, MD died June 3, 2013. A US Navy veteran of WWII. He served on the USS Frank Knox in the South Pacific. He was witness to the signing the of Japanese Surrender. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie E. Smith in 2000. Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Albert T. (Deanne) Smith, Helen Smith (Stas') Tarchalski and Robert J. Smith. He is also survived by three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 12 noon at HINES-RINALDI FUNERAL HOME, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
