Washington Governor. Born in Farmington, Utah. Succeeded to the office of Governor following the death of Governor John R. Rogers. Served as Governor of Washington from 1901 to 1905. Former Washington State Lieutenant Governor and Superior Court Judge for Island and Skagit Counties. He also served as prosecuting attorney for Whatcom, Skagit and Snohomish Counties. He received his formal education at Trinity College in Connecticut.
