TALLULA - Alvena J. Markert, 98, of Tallula died Sunday, July 12, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 4, 1907, in Altamont, the daughter of John and Martha Winter Alwerdt. She married William Markert in 1934 in Altamont; he died in 1985.
Mrs. Markert was a homemaker and member of Athens Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors: two sons, Fred (wife, LaVerne) Markert and Harry Markert, both of Tallula; daughter, Violetta Markert of Tallula; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Athens Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. Richard Becker officiating. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.
