Illine Baxter, 86, went into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in Stillwater. A visitation will be held at Strode Funeral Home on Friday, May 31 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Stillwater with Pastor Rusty Rhoads officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 3, at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Illine was born to Earnest Franklin and Mattie Belle (Reed) Barnett on Jan. 26, 1927, in Bristow. On Dec. 2, 1942, she married the love of her life, James Ruel Baxter, in Pampa, Texas. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage until Ruel's death in 2008. Illine was a member of Calvary Assembly of God.

She worked as a hair stylist for many years. She also volunteered her time in many capacities, including Hospice. She served as a pastor's wife with utmost grace and with all of her heart. Her unwavering faith and perseverance was an example to many. She lovingly cared for many children whom she made a significant impact of their families' lives. Illine was a woman of great character who was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. They were pastors in Morrison before moving to Stillwater in 1979. In the past four years she lived at Renaissance (three years) and Grace Living Center (one year).

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ruel; one son, Mark Baxter; two infant sons; eight brothers, Edger, Cecil, Ralph, Nathaniel, Frank, Earnest, Bobby and Stanley Barnett; and 2 sisters, Juanita Romines and Mildred Salsman.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Roberts, and her husband, Bill; one granddaughter, Angel Oakes, and her husband, Matt; one grandson, Will Roberts, and his fiancée Hannah King; and three great grandchildren, Lydia, Ayla and Macy Oakes, all of Stillwater; one daughter, Sequoyah, and her husband, Bud, of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
