Son of Robert Eugene Allison and Sarah S. Turner. Graduated in 1821 from The South Carolina College. Graduated in 1825 from the Lexington Kentucky Medical College and began his medical practice in York County, South Carolina. Served three consecutive terms in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1838 to 1843. He was elected in 1852 as a delegate to the Southern Rights Convention. He served as a delegate from York County at the Secession Convention of 1860.
