Margaret Collins Reedy

Margaret Collins Reedy, 92, of Beaufort, S.C., widow of Preston C. Reedy Sr., passed away Monday at home after a short illness.
Born April 2, 1921, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late James B. and Margaret Hardy Collins.
After graduating high school, she joined the Army, where she achieved the rank of corporal and served for the duration of World War II.
After leaving the Army at the end of the war, she married Preston. They raised three children and were married for 57 years prior to his death in 2004.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Thomas, Joseph, William, Leo and James.
She is survived by a son, Preston C. Reedy Jr. and his wife, Sue Anne; daughters, Patricia McCracken and Rose Reedy, all of Beaufort; three grandchildren, Shannon McCracken and his wife, Alyssa, Amanda Paulsen and her husband, Jerome, Beaufort, and Charles Reedy, Monroe, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Tanner McCracken and Preston and Autumn Paulsen, all of Beaufort; a sister, Catherine Leibel, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Anderson Funeral Home, Beaufort. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Beaufort National cemetery with military honors. The family suggests that donations be made to United Hospice, 1605 North St., Beaufort, S.C. 29902 or The Women Memorial, Dept. 560, Washington, D.C. 20042-0560.
