Bettye Yvonne Yancey Jackson passed away on October 29,2022. Bettye was born on September 26, 1935, in Wichita Falls, TX to Clyde Yancey and Nina Reaves.
During her childhood Bettye enjoyed visiting her grandparents farm and riding horses. She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, TX. After high school she worked in her father's print shop operating a typeset machine. In 1956 she left home and in 1957 became a mother. Bettye stated one of her greatest accomplishments was living through 20 years of a difficult life and giving birth to 4 children. In 1987 Bettye started working for Raytheon Inc in Greenville, TX. While working at Raytheon she learned aircraft mechanics, assembler and installer on various aircrafts. Bettye's two favorite aircrafts to work on was the Boeing 747 and Airforce One. In 1980 while at the VFW with her best friend Betty Patterson a gentleman caught her eye. She asked Betty if she knew him. Indeed, she did and introduced Bettye to Billie Jackson. It didn't take long for Billie to win Bettye's heart and on December 24, 1980, they were married. For the next forty years they were side- by- side. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, flower gardening, and each other. Billie left a void in Betty's heart on April 11, 2021, when he left this world to make a new home for them in heaven. Bettye is now in heaven with her honey.
Bettye was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, friend, mother and grandmother. She was a very straight forward person. You always knew where you stood with Bettye. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, dancing, completing puzzles, playing softball, riding horses, bowling and traveling. She was an avid Gunsmoke fan and watched it throughout the day. When she wasn't watching westerns, she was watching the Cowboys play football. So, the Cowboys gave her a great send off on the Sunday after she passed with a win against the Chicago Bears of 49 to 29. We know she was shouting at them the whole game.
Bettye is also preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Nina and her daughter and best friend Dorothy Yvonne Zanderzon, two granddaughters Meghan and Lindsey.
Bettye is survived by her sons and wives Bruce and Lorayne Hinman, David and Tonya Hinman, Yancey Hinman, Robert Owen; grandchildren, Robbie, Matthew Irwin, Amber, Mandy, Dana, Sarah, Brandon, Lacey, Matthew Hinman, Jarrod, Ryan, Medley, Jenna, Kaity, Lane, Kevin, and Chris; one brother and wife Jerry and Jane Yancey; and one sister Helen Dye; A very special and dear friend Betty Patterson and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
