Arbina was the daughter of John and Adeline Hammersley Layfield. She first married William Corbin, a brakeman, in 1886 in Pennsylvania, and they had Ferdinand, Clara, and Nellie while living in Potter County.

Following his death, she married Charles Drumheller on 28 May 1917 in Wood County,Ohio.

Arbina's maternal grandfather, Henry Hammersley, was killed on the first day of battle at Gettysburg.
