Mr. Leon Benton, age 92 of Winnsboro, passed away on Sunday, December 18th, 2016 in Winnsboro. Leon was born on April 23rd, 1924 in Scroggins to the late Elbert Lee Benton and Mary Alice Jordan Benton. He was a retired truck driver, and a member of Clearwater Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Thelma Peebles Benton; brother, Ivan “Red” Benton; and sister, Lueverne Martin. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol Benton Jensen and husband Donald of Warwick, GA; two grandchildren, Jeremy Jensen and wife Dawne, Brandi Jensen Wade and husband David; six great-grandchildren, Ashley Jensen, Donnie Jensen, Justin Jensen, Haley Wade, Emily Wade and Jensen Wade; sister-in-law and special caregiver, Barbara Benton Pile. Funeral services will be held at Beaty Funeral Home of Winnsboro on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM, the family will receive friends one hour prior, beginning at 1:00 PM; Bro. Fred Morrow to officiate, interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Scroggins.
