Deneen was the daughter of my mother's cousin Diane G.(Segilia) Lazar and her husband Kenneth M. Lazar Sr.

She was their oldest child. She was joined by younger brother Ken Jr in 1968.

Deneen was a vivacious child, with curly red hair and plenty of freckles (angel's kisses).

On Christmas Day, 1979, she felt ill. Her parents took her to the doctor the next day, and the doctor's were unable to figure out a cause for her illness. Her body began to shut down. She passed away just 3 days after Christmas.

It was determined shortly after her death that she had died of Toxic Shock Syndrome. She was only 15 years old. Deneen was one of the first known cases of Toxic Shock Syndrome caused by feminine hygiene products.

Deneen died when I was just 9 months old, so I was never able to meet her. But my mother said she was a wonderful girl. And I know her parents deeply miss her. Her brother, Ken, gave his daughter the middle name Deneen.
