Maaike Bakker was born in 1839 in the country village Zevenhuizen (= Seven houses), municipality Leek, in the western part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, daughter of Lammert Hindriks Bakker (32 y, laborer) and Roelfke Derks Holman (29 y).
Maaike Bakker married on 24 May 1863 in Marum, province Groningen, at the age of 23 years to the same years aged farm hand Pieter Tuinstra.
On 30 July 1863 their son Ritske Tuinstra was born in Marum. Five weeks after Ritske's birth, on 10 September 1863, his mother Maaike Bakker died in Marum at the age of still 23 years.
Her widower Pieter Tuinstra remarried in 1870 in Marum to Bauktje Hoogstra and emigrated in 1892 to Chicago, Illinois, USA, where he died in 1919.
Their son Ritske Tuinstra emigrated also to Chicago and died there in 1940.
