John married Caroline Bushe.

July 1, 1909 - Humboldt Independent - Mr. S. Fetterly of Ortonville, Minn., who was called here by the serious illness and death of Grandpa Fetterly returned home Sunday night.

Contributed by Karen - Mr. J.S. Fetterley died at the home of his son James, in Livermore, on Tuesday evening, June 22, 1909, at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 2 days.

Deceased was born near Cornwall, Canada, in 1825, where his parents were engaged in farming. He was married there in the year 1848 to Miss Caroline Bushe. They moved from there to Point Douglas, Mn., in 1855, where they settled and engaged in farming.

This was their home until about ten years ago when they came to Livermore to make their home with their son. His wife died at this place eight years ago.

The following children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Fetterley: Electra A Wright, St Paul Park, Mn; Silas and Sidney, twins, one in Ortonville, Mn, the other at Millelac, Mn; Millissa Gallinger, Big Stone, Mn; James at Livermore; Alithera died in infancy; Lydia Winkel, deceased; Susan Reddington, Vancouver, Wa; and Whitney in Montana.

The cause of Mr. Fetterley’s death was a gradual failing of his physical powers, as he has been quite weak since early in the spring. Mr. Fetterley was quite popular among his associates, being fond of social companionship, and as a man and a neighbor he may be classed as among the most accommodating; never overlooking an opportunity to be of service to anybody needing his advice or assistance, and was generally known to be kind hearted and obliging.

The funeral was held from the house on Wednesday at two o’clock, the services being conducted by Rev Romick of the Methodist Church, and the remains were laid to rest in Union Cemetery by the side of his faithful wife.
