Jane Barks, 66, of Goreville passed away at 2:10 AM, Monday, October 12, 2009 at Herrin Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Dr. Ron Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery in Goreville. Jane was born October 30, 1942 in East Prairie, Missouri to G. B. and Irene (Smotherman) Johnson. She married Vernon Ray Barks on August 20, 1984 in St. Louis, Missouri; together they shared 25 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Ray of Goreville; her children, Gary Wayne and Leslie Johnson of Pacific, Missouri, Paula Mantle of East Prairie, Missouri, Paul "Butch" and Stacey Mantle of Springfield, Missouri, Vernon Ray Elmer Barks III of Goreville, Jeffrey Wayne and Karen Cooper of Housesprings, Missouri, Wayne Joseph Barks of Dallas, Texas, Harry Hugh Barks of Arnold, Missouri, and Nicholas Cory and Beth Barks of Midtown, Ohio; twenty grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and sisters, Linda Jacobs and Mary Edwards both of Housesprings, Missouri and Polly Pennington of Greenville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jane enjoyed making quilts, embroidery, fishing and working puzzles.
