Melanie was a frequent volunteer at the Mountain View Ministries Church of God, Thurmont, MD and planned to be the youth minister at the church. She sang in the Catoctin Praise Band.
Surviving in addition to her parents and stepparents are maternal grandparents, Russell and Evelyn Walker of Fairfield; steppaternal grandparents, Wayne and Rosella Cregger of Emmitsburg, MD; one sister, Angela R.
