Mr. Lewie A. Allen of Ozark died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 66.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William Hart officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening. Mr. Allen's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Sunday.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, AL 36360.
Mr. Allen was born Oct. 15, 1939, in Dale County to the late Effie Marie Whitehead Allen and Seth Allen. He resided in Coffee County from early childhood until 1963. Mr. Allen worked in the construction business and lived in several places prior to making his home in Ozark. He worked with B.F. Williams Construction Co. for 30 years, and for the past five years had worked with Dale County Road and Bridge Department. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Leon Dansby Sunday school class. Mr. Allen was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Avant.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jeanette Peters Allen, Ozark; three sons, Tim Allen of Ozark, Kevin Allen of Malvern and Craig Allen and wife, Jan, of Clio; one sister, Faye Plemins, Panama City, Fla.; four brothers; Royce Allen, Thomas Allen, Steve Allen and Ray Grant; and one grandson, Jacob Allen.
