Helen Nye Latimer
Helen Nye Latimer of Watertown, Connecticut, a descendant of one of Falmouth's oldest families, died today at Falmouth Hospital. She was 78.
Miss Latimer was the daughter of the late Elbert Squire Latimer and Aline (Nye) Latimer. The Nye family was one of the earliest settlers of North Falmouth, arriving in the 1650s.
A graduate of Brockton High School, Miss Latimer was a 1934 graduate of Elmira College and received her Master of Science degree from Boston University.
A long-time resident of Watertown, Connecticut, she worked as a bacteriologist at the Watertown Hospital from the 1930s until her retirement in 1974.
Miss Latimer was an associate member of Sigma Xi of Boston University and a member of the Nye Family Association Inc. of East Sandwich.
She leaves a sister, Mary F. Latimer of North Falmouth.
A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 1 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, West Falmouth. Burial will follow in the North Falmouth Cemetery.
