Amy Washington Little Freeman, resident of Wheeling Street in Fairmont, went home to be with her Lord on Monday (April 30, 2013).
She was born Oct. 28, 1952, in Fairmont, to the late Georgia Washington and Kirby Edwards.
She was raised by Andrew and Mary Ann Washington of Fairmont. She spent her childhood and teenage years at Morning Star Baptist Church, where she played the piano.
She was a 1970 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, and a graduate of Webster College. She served in the U.S. Navy and worked at the State Department in Washington, D.C., and at the public library in Fairmont as a librarian.
Amy loved her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, listening to music and praising the Lord.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Nathaniel Little and companion Stacy Butler; grandchildren, Kornell Little, Shanila Little, Niasia Little, Nabreia Little, Namoti Little and Nathaniel King; four sisters, Thelma Jones of Barrackville, Carolyn Washington Essien of Fairmont, Nona Williams of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Emma Jones of Fairmont; three brothers, Allen Washington of Dallas, Texas, Leo Jones of Barrackville, and Darrin Jones of Fairmont; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Chara White.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Victoria Gregory, Delores Turner and Little Georgia Washington; two brothers, James Washington and Andrew Washington; sister-inlaw, Coria Washington; and a nephew, Carl Washington.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., in Fairmont, from 4-8 p.m. Monday. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. John Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
