Ms. Absher was born in Wilkes County to the late Dewey Pedroe Absher and Bertha Isadoe Handy Absher. She was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Mack, Cecil, Johnnie, Lydda and Dewey Absher and her sisters, Eve Teague, Ozzie Adams, Cora Lee Setzer, Josephine Adams and Betty Jo Adkins.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Shannon Woods and Sharon Whittington, both of Lenoir; her grandchildren, Karen Williams, Jesse Woods and Devin Whittington, all of Lenoir; her great grandchildren, Mason Williams and Raelynn Sanders.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in Pendry's Chapel with Chaplain Steve Butler and Ed Richards officiating. Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Adams, Matthew Smith, Jason Greene, Keith Cardwell, Tim Wallace and Eddie Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Absher and Stevie Greene.
The family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
